  • Svenska eller engelska

    Här under hösten har jag haft ett experiment pågående: Jag ville prova att skriva på engelska och se hur det är. Och jag har kommit fram till att jag skriver på svenska tills vidare. Det tar emot lite för mycket att skriva på engelska och helst vill jag kunna välja att skriva på svenska och/eller engelska.

    Så får det vara tills dess att det finns någon grym plugin till WordPress för att hantera dubbla språk eller att WordPress erbjuder inbyggt stöd för att hantera flera språk på en och samma hemsida. Egentligen är det ganska konstigt att WordPress inte redan stödjer multipla språk som en del av applikationen.

  • Nog är nog med blåsa

    Först var det stormen Johannes och nu snöovädret Anna. Nu får det räcka.

    Idag har jag varit ner till båthamnen tre gånger och kollat presenningen. Det har blåst sämsta tänkbara för vår plats i hamnen, det har blåst sydost och då drar det rakt in oskyddat mot vår vinterplats. Som tur var har vinden under dagen vridit mot ost och då är det bättre.

    Hoppas prognoserna stämmer och att vinden avtar under natten. Nu får det räcka.

  • Clearing up after ’Johannes’

    The storm ’Johannes’ hit Sweden hard a couple of days ago.

    When we came home from the mountains the first thing I did was to check on the boat. The boat cover didn’t look good at all and the wind was blowing really hard. I decided then and there to take down the cover completely to avoid any damage. Today I rebuilt the cover while enjoying the sun and calm weather.

    There are still boats at the club that need attention before the next bad weather arrives in a couple of days, hard winds and lots of snow is promised.

  • Christmas 2025

    Finaly … finaly proper winter.

    At home in Sundsvall we’ve been longing for winter and snow only to be disappointed. So it felt really good to drive to our little red house in the mountains for Christmas.

    While the rest of the family chose to spend their days in the cross country ski trails, I chose to grab my touring skis and go for small adventures above the tree line. Skiing above the tree line is a bit like sailing or paddling on open water, I love it.

    Now I´m really looking forward to go for an extended ski trip in the mountains with the tent, sleeping bag and pulk. Let´s see if that might happen this winter.

  • Glad we have man made snow

    We are still waiting for winter to arrive.

    This is the greenest and greyest Christmas I can remember since moving to Sundsvall some 25 years ago. Luckily for cross country lovers we have man made snow at Södra Stadsberget.

  • Overlooking Sundsvall

    Sundsvall is a city shaped by industries.

    Yesterday I visited the lookout at Södra Stadsberget. From there you a a magnificent view of the city. Our boat club is squeezed in between the Ortviken paper mill and highway bridge. It´s not the most beautiful place to have a boat club but it is very practical.

    Another session on the kayak ergo. I’m getting more and more used to it. No blisters!

  • Grey. Wet. Cold.

    Just longing.

    Checked on the boat today. The weather lately has been miserable, it’s been raining like crazy. Gone is the snow, greyness has returned. Longing for some new snow. Longing for spring. Five months on the hard to go.
