Since I started the cockpit table project, work has been progressing nicely. Each and every day I’ve done some small task. So far I’m pleased with the result, it’s an old table with patina and wear so finish wont be perfect
This is what has happened:
- Sanded the table to remove the old varnish. Had to be careful to not damage the plywood.
- Added a covering layer of clear varnish hoping to get more even color when adding the stained varnish.
- Added a couple of layers of stained varnish with light sanding in between.
Next step is to add two layers of clear varnish, I’m happy with the amount of warmth and color in the table as it is now.
Compare it to how it looked when I started.
